How To Make Your Winter Outfits Pop

Hi everyone! I hope you had a bunch of fun celebrating the holidays with your families, receiving gifts, and eating yummy food (I know I ate a little too much!). But after a pretty long hiatus, I'm back with a post about how to make your winter outfits pop this season. I've noticed that I've been wearing a lot of solid colors recently, so here's some helpful tips to make a drab outfit into something show-stopping.

Here's your recipe for a successful winter outfit like the one that I wore skating above!

Step #1: Pick a pattern

If you're going to wear an all black (or even all white) outfit, you need to have something to break it up. My personal preference is adding a piece with a pattern. For example, I'm loving my "Christmas-y" plaid mid-length skirt. It was a steal for only $7 at a vintage shop... Score!

Step #2: Examine Your Patterned Piece

OK, so whatever you pick out: a skirt, shirt, pants, even socks, look at the colors of it. What would it go with? A white shirt? A different color? It all depends. If you need help with it: just let me know, I'm here for you, girl!

Step #3: Start Putting It All Together

Lay it all out, imagine how it will look, try it on: do whatever works for you. If a certain piece doesn't work with the rest of the outfit, try to swap it out with something else in your closet. You never know what kind of outfits you can make.

And ta-da! Now you have your own festive, fun outfit for any winter occasion. I got so many compliments on this outfit on Christmas Eve. Notice how my whole outfit is black besides my skirt? It's not that hard! Literally raid your closet right now and make your own cute outfit. Show it off to me by submitting it to my Tumblr page. I'd love to see what you come up with.

Have a great rest of December! I have exciting plans for the New Year to share very soon!
