Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend: time to remember the men and women in America who have put their lives on the line for us, and also a time to relax and be thankful! But I must say: my weekend was actually pretty busy. I hung out and caught up with numerous people, which is always nice. Here's some of my favorite photo highlights from my weekend:
Saturday I went cacti shopping with my friends Julia and Maria! It was so much fun. I got two cool cacti, as well as a succulent (middle). They are very low maintenance plants which can be great if you go on vacation a lot. I still have to research more on how to take good care of these little guys, so if you have any tips, let me know!

Did anyone else's mouth water when they saw this picture? Yes, I did eat this for lunch on Saturday! So worth the calories. It's called a Starwberry Shortcake Waffle. I'm not suppose to have whipped cream (because it's dairy) but I splurged because who can resist waffles?

I went to lunch at a really trendy restaurant on Friday with some friends. We sat on the roof which was way cool. This picture is just an example of how cool it is. I love the wood, and the way they used old garbage and paint cans as planters.

Last night (Sunday) I was unfortunately ditched by some of my friends but I made the best of my alone time by driving around. I stopped at a park that holds a lot of old memories from old friends. It was nice to walk around there and make my own memories. I think this picture really reflects that.

Playing with Sparklers

Yesterday, Maria helped me with my Photography class assignment: Slow Sync Flash. Honestly, I have no idea how to explain all the complicated photo-language of slow sync. I'm a visual and kinetic learner, so I have to have a camera in my hand to explain it. Anyway, some of these photos came out absolutely beautiful; I couldn't be happier with the results! Also: not all of these demonstrate slow sync. In the end, I just needed one photo to cut it, and luckily, I got several. Enjoy! Let me know what you think!

Carry Yourself with Pride (OOTD)

(please excuse the poorly taken selfies: I couldn't find anyone who would take a picture of my outfit.)
Yesterday, I had to work at a dinner event for my dad (that's what I do for work currently, remember I'm still in high school). It was pretty interesting and fun, so I actually didn't mind giving up my Friday night. Usually I clean up, bus the tables, help prepare food, and man the entrance. Whenever I work the events, I like looking as nice and fashionable as possible. I think it says a lot to adults when a 17 year old carries herself with pride and really cares about how she looks. Everyday I try to look like I didn't just roll out of bed. Every outfit I wear needs to make a statement because it shows who I am: not just another face in the crowd. I pride myself on being unique; I am very aware I'm not the typical teenager.

Graphic Design

I'm obsessed with a lot of graphic design that I've found on the web. I'm so obsessed that I've started to consider minoring in Graphic Design. It includes my two passions which is why I think I like it so much: art and technology. From the age of 2, I've been told I was "advanced" when it came to computers. You know, I couldn't speak correctly (I had a speech impediment until I was about 7) but I could figure out just about anything on a computer. I was a special one. Because of this, when I was a Freshman I was in a Senior computer programming class -- I know I was a prodigy. Today, I absolutely love working with Photoshop and will be learning Illustrator next year for class. So hey, who knows? Maybe Graphic Design is in my future. For now, here are some of my favorite graphic designs:
