Last week, I was offered to become a contributor on a website called Makeoverly. I was ecstatic to find out the site was about answering people's beauty and fashion related questions. I love giving advice so this is perfect for me!

Go check out Makeoverly, ask questions, and check out my very own post on shoes for fall!

Being Alone: A Personal Reflection

It's taken a lot of time for me to formulate my thoughts over this topic. I also debated whether I wanted to publicly talk about this. But, I created this blog with confidence that my readers would accept me and that I would accept myself for whatever it is I want to write about. I created this blog looking for a saving grace, one that would relinquish me from any judgements I had on myself. I want a "I don't care, I'm-gonna 'do me' no matter what" attitude. Slowly but surely, I'm getting there.

So here I am, putting this out there. Here's a bit of backstory on the situation:

I had two boyfriends last year during my Sophomore year (at different times of the year people! I'm not a player!). I was pretty broken up about it when both relationships crumbled, I mean, who isn't when that happens? Even though it hurt, those relationships taught me a lot about myself, about love, about the world.

And now (as the title implies) I am single. Originally the title for this post was going to be "Being Single" but I quickly changed it to "Being Alone". I think alone is a more suitable title for my relationship status at the moment. Because someone can be "single" but it doesn't mean they aren't going out on casual dates with new people. So I'm "alone" because I haven't been on a date or talked to any new guys really since my last ex. Basically it's been almost a year since I've been interested in anyone.

Of course, loneliness overtakes me once in a while but I've been trying to fill my time. Babysitting, tutoring kids, working at AA, all of these have really helped. And through it I've learned more about myself.

To be honest, the last almost-year of my life has been spent getting to know myself. I'm starting to accept that. When I look back at myself during my relationships, I liked myself, but I don't know if I really truly loved myself.

Now that I'm single/alone, well, I can do whatever the heck I want. I was finally free to figure myself out and that was scary and exciting at the same time.

I have begun to dress exactly how I want to, no fear in being judged for my sorta-crazy and ever changing style. My music tastes never have to align to anyone else's. I can say what I want, when I want. My opinion is mine, no one else's.

I've truly realized that I live for me, not for someone else. This is my life, and if you enjoy being around me: cool. But if you don't then whatever. I can't change how someone else feels about me, but I can change how I feel about myself.

Relationships fall apart because one person or both people aren't willing to fix something or deal with each other any longer. We all have flaws, but love is accepting someone else's flaws. It's not my fault that guys in the past couldn't accept my flaws and ultimately, me. All I can do is be me and wait for someone who really genuinely cares enough to stay.

So I'm okay with being alone right now because I know something, somebody will come along. But for now, it's just me, mapping my way through the world, figuring out where I belong, falling and picking myself back up again.

Thank you for listening. It means so much to me.

Feeling Colorful (OOTD)

Another OOTD! I got everything I'm wearing from American Apparel (surprise surprise).

The company sent me all the things I'm wearing in this video. I love the shorts; they are so comfy and fit me perfect. The top is a new item we have in stores, so come check it out, or find it online! As for the shoes, I'm so glad I got them in my package because I've had my eye on them! They come in so many different colors, but the clear ones are perfect to pair with basically anything and everything.

Minimalism and Simplicity: The New Trends

I absolutely love clean, simple looks. And these outfits capture the minimalistic style perfectly.

Rag and Bone women's Spring 2015

Ever since I was little I've been a minimalist. When other kids were coloring in all the white spaces on the page, I'd be drawing small designs in the corner of the paper. This along with many other things was a struggle for me at times because minimalism isn't really a "popular trend" in Kindergarten. Now that I'm older I've learned to embrace my simplistic mindset, because now it's "cool". (Take that Elementary school bullies!)

So if I ever get to redo my bedroom, it'll look like one of these rooms...

Product of the Week: American Apparel Color Block Shorts

So I've really been slacking on these Product of the Week blog entries. But my slacking aside, I picked up my first few "work clothes" items at AA today.

I had my eye on these color block shorts for the longest time, and today I finally bought myself a pair!

Image from

Aren't they beautiful? They are high waisted, I got them in a 26/27 and they fit me really well. And what's awesome about these shorts is that the material is so soft and I just love the colors. To snatch this super fun pair of shorts, click here!

To go along with them I bought the Cotton Spandex Sleeveless Crop Top in white.

My first day is Monday and this will be the perfect first day of work outfit!

What's your favorite piece from American Apparel?

Embracing Dark Red Lipstick

I've always loved the look of dark red lips but my mom thinks I look like a "vampire" when I put it on. I can't deny that the vampire look could have been true during the winter, but now that it's sunny and my skin is tan, I feel like I can really rock the red.

The other day when I filmed my "Exciting News!" video, I felt a bit grungy so this was the result...

A black Forever 21 body suit, paired with my gray H&M denim skirt, along with a choker made by me and of course, Rimmel London #124 lipstick.

I really like how this look turned out, what do you think?

If you want to "Get My Look" check out this little box below:

Also, if you want a choker necklace, I will make you a custom one! Let me know in the comments or message me!

Charli XCX: My Grunge Go-To Girl

Recently I bought concert tickets to a performer that I was introduced to at the Marina and the Diamonds concert last May: Charli XCX. Many of you probably know her from her new hit "Boom Clap" that was featured in TFIOS. Or you might know her from her "ft." status in "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea (who I also love dearly, but another post later about Iggy, I promise).

Anyway, if you know who she is but have no idea what she looks like or what her style is then you have come to the right place. I'm about to inform you on all the reasons I love Charli XCX besides the fact that her music is amazing.

Charli XCX everyone. Not only does she have awesome stage presence (she got so into it and was whipping her hair constantly. hahaha.) but she's obviously gorgeous too.
And I just think she's super cool.

I love her biker jacket. I wish I had a hundred pieces of clothing in that shiny silver because it is beautiful. But *sigh* I don't own anything like that... At least I can dream.

Charli also wears a lot of plaid skirts which I've always thought are really cute. I get made fun of sometimes for wearing them casually because I wear them everyday for as part of my school uniform. But hey, I think they are really fashionable, so hear this people: I don't care.

She's definitely got a more "grungy" style, you can especially tell when you watch her videos and listen to her music. But I love all kinds of looks and Charli XCX's is one of my favorites.
Let me know in the comments if you're a Charli XCX fan and what your favorite song of her's is!
Here's some inspired Charli fashions...

Exciting News!

What I'm about to tell you is something that you can also find in this vlog I made!

As the title says: this is about exciting news!

Drum roll please!

I got a job at American Apparel! I am beyond excited because I love the company and their clothes. The fact at it's all made right here in the USA is very important to me.

And this is my first job so I'm ready to start being a working girl!

I've always wanted to work in retail because (obviously) I love fashion. I'm sure it'll be a really rewarding, great job for me.

Another thing I quickly want to talk about in this post is my YouTube channel...

I got a really sweet comment on one of my videos saying that if I stuck with YouTube, I'd go really far. That meant a lot to me and motivated me even more to make YouTubing regularly a part of my life.

Blogging is so much easier than Vlogging, but I might as well do both, right?

It would be amazing if you guys would check out my videos and subscribed! Any advice or comments would mean so much as well.

Here's to the things I've always wanted to do and now I'm doing them. Cheers!

Depop: My New Favorite App

A little over a week ago I discovered an app through someone I follow on Instagram. Usually I don't pay attention to that kind of stuff, but this caught my eye.

The app is called Depop. Basically it allows people to sell their like new/gently used clothes, accessories, etc. To put it even more simply, it's like Ebay for fashionistas. So obviously, when I downloaded it I instantly fell in love.

I listed some things. Mostly things that didn't fit and haven't been used or used very little. So far I've gotten pretty good results. I sold a SAT book that I never used, simply because I decided to take the ACT instead.

Depop users also like to trade their items. For example, I traded a purse I hardly used for a flower headband. I also just traded a dress that no longer fits for a cute and comfy Hello Kitty crew neck sweatshirt.

I highly recommend this app. It's very trustworthy and very helpful if you want to clear out your closet.

If you download the app, make sure you follow me! My username is @jcw47.

Happy selling!

Wanting to be Friends with Every Blogger Ever

I've got a problem on my hands: literally nobody I know personally has a blog (unless they do and they are hiding; don't be shy!).

My attempt at being cute aside, I think bloggers, especially fashion, art, or lifestyle bloggers, are some of the coolest people ever. Not to compliment all of us or anything but we know what's up. It's so true. Every blogger knows the latest trends, and every blogger is so cool (I obviously can't stress this enough).
I really wish real life was just filled with awesome, interesting, blogger-like people. Maybe it is, I just wouldn't know how to meet those people though so, that's another problem.

All I know is it would be really fun to have people like that in my life. To other bloggers: getting to know you guys through your blogs is amazing. It's so fun to read your opinions, look at your style pictures, etc.
Also, so many bloggers are super arsty. And if you know me well you know I appreciate really artsy, deep-thinking people. Because I just love a good deep conversation.

In my personal life I only know a few people who can hold a really great deep conversation. But I am so thankful for those few individuals because I know I can trust them and they can trust me.

Anyway, it just seems to me like the blogging community is like that. And I'd really love to get to know some of you better! So this is an invite for ya'll to come on and say "hi!" so we can be friends. I love getting to know people and I promise I don't bite!

Thanks for always reading and listening. XOXO.

My Love for Art

I'm going to start posting more heartfelt, raw writing, along with my usual fashion/lifestyle posts.

Today's topic is going to be my love for art and how it formed...

I've always been really into photography and I loved drawing anime characters for the longest time. But it really wasn't until I studied abroad in England last summer that it all clicked. There, I took a class called Art Textiles. That class was amazing. Honestly, it was unlike anything I had ever been taught in the States. To me, art had always just been "draw this", "paint that", "...Oh look how creative". But in England I learned that art is an in-depth process. Students did research on the pattern of butterfly wings, had composition books filled with examples... everything. While in the States it has always felt to me like a constricted process... A "follow these rules" type of thing.

Since I was only on exchange for a month, the teacher had me working with my photography. She showed me examples of artists that do collage work, and in that instance I fell in love. Collage is something that has helped me get through the worst of times by expressing my feelings photographically. I am so grateful for having been influenced so much by that class. I don't think I'd have this blog if I hadn't had that experience, to be honest.

So there you have it. It's been an amazing journey and I'm constantly learning new things. The collages I do are all online, so I guess you could basically call it "Graphic Design" or "Graphic Collage" (as I like to say).

Here's some of my work (if you were curious)...

All of these were made on Polyvore which is where I do 90% of my collage work. I do "graphic design" stuff on Photoshop. So if you want to see more of my Polyvore collages, check out my profile.

My work is something really near to my heart, and it's something I've kept kinda private for quite a while. So I hope you connect to it, feel it, and appreciate it like I do.

Thanks for listening (well, reading... haha)

Road Trippin' through Northeast America

Finally I'm back from what seemed to be longer than a week of traveling. Hotel from hotel, state from state, city to city. Over 1800 miles (that sounds about right) of driving, and finally, I'm home.

But this family road trip consisted of going to my cousin's grad party in New York, then driving to Vermont for a college tour, and finally hitting Quebec and Montreal in Canada.
If you want my honest opinion, every place I went was beautiful, especially Quebec, but wow... Canada is expensive. To start off, their tax is 18%... from what I'm used to that's insane. And also: where can you get a $240 ticket for not wearing your seatbelt in the backseat? Oh Canada! ...Yes, this is what I experienced on my trip. Frankly, I was pissed off.
Now that I've ranted a bit, I'll talk about the good parts of my trip and show some pictures!

New York

Hiking along the Hudson with my cousins.
Trying fried Oreos at the local carnival.
Cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery. I discovered the world's best butter-cream frosting! Yay!

(not many photos... hmm)

Pretty view!

American Apparel in Burlington!

Macaroons are my obsession. This is a Hazelnut Yogurt one!

Pretty candles, beautiful church.

A night in Quebec. Wearing my beautiful maxi skirt from Yap Yap. It's on sale, check it out!

Jazz Festival because why not? Sporting my new Brandy Melville dress!

Tea time with a gorgeous view.

I love street art.
Best waffle ever. Oh my gosh.

Overall, it was a really cool trip. I got to see new places and that's what I love!
