So, here's a bit of a different post today... Well, maybe it's more of a reflection... Nonetheless, I attended a conference today called Create: Detroit in, where-else: my home city of Detroit. Now, this is the first conference I've been to and although it was hours long and a little over my head at some points, I still found it very interesting and it made me ask the question: What can I do here?
As I listened to many inspirational men and women that have either been involved in the revitalization of Detroit or other cities, I couldn't help but be inspired.
I've been tossing around a lot of things in my mind lately, one of them being the question of "what am I meant to do during my lifetime?" And in ways, I've started piecing an answer together. One part of the puzzle you may ask? I really can't have a 9-5 office job... But more on that later.
What I really took away from the event today was the fact that even though I'm young, I can do something here. I can. I just have to try a little harder, be different, and talk to the right people. It all sounds so simple, right? Wrong: but that doesn't stop me.
With my mission right now focused on expanding my blog's audience and getting myself out in the fashion sphere, I am constantly thinking and jotting down notes on how I can do just that. Here's a few bullets I typed quickly into my iPhone notes today...
Start small, don't wait. Be different, have a niche. Market yourself well, and a lot.
In the future (when this little plan really starts working for me) I'll write a full out blog post on it. But for now I'm just starting.
I'm really thankful for the opportunity today and glad I got to meet and listen to so many interesting individuals.
Thank you for reading!
Let me know what you think.
How can we all become better bloggers? Have any blogging tips? Any thoughts on Detroit?
